Manchester United’s lackluster performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday was nothing short of a disaster. Erik ten Hag’s pre-match rallying cry of demanding “100%” from his players seemed to be lost in translation as United were humiliated 3-0 at Old Trafford. Despite manager Ten Hag making it crystal clear in his program notes that anything less than a full commitment wouldn’t be acceptable, his players offered little more than a shadow of themselves, barely showing half the effort needed to compete against a far more determined Spurs side.

The Opening Disaster: Brennan Johnson Strikes Early

Tottenham wasted no time stamping their authority on the match. It took just three minutes for Brennan Johnson to find the back of the net, capitalizing on an unmarked tap-in after United’s defense, as per usual, was caught napping. It was déjà vu for United fans, as Johnson’s goal resembled the same defensive mistakes that haunted them just days before against FC Twente.
