Vinicius Junior brace lead Brazil beat the Paraguay national team with a score of 4-1 in the second match of Group D of the Copa America 2024 which was held at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Saturday June, 29 2024.
Vinicius Junior excellent performance
Brazil coach Dorival Junior made a number of changes in this match. Savio got the chance to start, supporting Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior on the front lines.
The match runs 30 minutes, Brazil gets a penalty after Andres Cubas does a handball in the forbidden box. Unfortunately, Lucas Paqueta’s penalty failed to become a goal.
Paqueta paid for his mistake four minutes later. The West Ham midfielder provided a brilliant assist which Vinicius completed into a goal.
In the 43rd minute, young star Savinho added to Brazil’s lead. The uni goal was reviewed by VAR before finally being validated. The injury period lasted five minutes, Vinicius scored his second goal to give Brazil a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Just two minutes into the second half, Paraguay managed to reduce the deficit through Omar Alderete’s long-range shot. Paraguay started the second half very well.
Unfortunately, Paraguay’s backline again played carelessly in their own area. Mathias Villasanti committed a handball which resulted in a second penalty for Brazil. This time Paqueta’s execution succeeded in becoming a goal.
Paraguay’s suffering was even more complete after Andres Cubas received a red card from the referee for a hard foul in the 81st minute. The 4-1 score lasted until the end of the match.
Thanks to this result, Brazil are now ranked second with 4 points, behind Colombia who previously beat Costa Rica 3-0. Brazil and Colombia will clash in the final match on Wednesday July, 3, 2024.
